Last night, J and I ate at the hotel restaurant, Jaspas, around 3pm and then went back to our room to crash. It was hilarious…waiting for the check, jetlag totally set in and we could not wait to fall asleep.
J was up in the middle of the night, and happily found some English television. So, when I finally woke up he was watching “Friends” and reading the travel guides in our room.
We decided to try a French bakery for breakfast and left the hotel around 6am Hanoi time. The streets were fairly quiet at this time and it was a great way to try out navigating the city streets before we had to fear “death by moped”. Unfortunately, the French bakery no longer exists…but we did get a small taste of street life by seeing the local ladies gossiping on park benches and a little boy peeing on the street.
We walked around for a few blocks checking out local menus and it appears that J’s distaste for eggs will work against us at breakfast. So, back to the hotel and we had breakfast at Jaspas…which thankfully had some egg free stuff for J. I started laughing when the restaurant music came on–we were eating to “I Walk the Line” by Johnny Cash.
During breakfast, we realized that we would have to pack our diaper bag for the trip to Danang. I have absolutely no clue how many diapers to pack! Then, I started crying. I cannot believe we will have our son tomorrow!
Then, we got a couple of newspapers to read out by the pool. Contrary to what our agency tells us, the weather is NOT hot. I wore a fleece the entire time we were at the pool and there is no way that I can imagine getting in the water. The sky has been overcast and the pool area is very breezy. I really hope it warms up or the sun comes out…because this girl listened to everyone and packed tank tops…BRRR!!!
Not sure what we will do for the rest of the day. It’s only 9am and I am so screwed up on the time difference that it feels much later.
