First Doctor’s Visit and Daddy’s Promotion!

Ladies and Gentlemen….we have eczema.
Yesterday, I emailed this photo to a friend of ours who is also a dermatologist and we have a diagnosis. It was also confirmed today by the pediatrician at Morgan’s first appointment. It could be the reason for so many tears and all of the itching. We have cream and we are not afraid to use it 🙂
Thank you all for the kind words yesterday. It was an extremely rough day…made all the harder because Jeremy and I don’t have any family near by when we are ready to pull our hair out.
Reinforcements will arrive early next week when my dad and step mom visit and Jeremy will be home with me this weekend. I also have Morgan’s doctor’s permission to put him down and step away….even when he’s clinging like a little monkey man. She told me to make sure that I eat, drink plenty of water, and sleep. It made me feel a bit less guilty when he was screaming on the floor while I fixed a glass of water today.
At the appointment–we learned that Morgan is developmentally on track and perfect in everything except for swallowing solid foods and also due to the fact that he is “tongue tied” meaning that his frenulum needs to be clipped to release his tongue from the bottom of his mouth. We have a referral to ENT and to Early Childhood Intervention for speech and oral development.
The constipation is still a problem–so we were given lactulose to mix into juice to help him go. We were also prescribed a 3 week course of glycerin suppositories. YAY more fun with POO.
After the doctor’s appointment we enjoyed watching Jeremy’s promotion to Major. WHOO HOO! Pay raise and more rank 🙂 I’m so proud of my hubby. Morgan looked so adorable at the ceremony and behaved fairly well for someone who had just been stripped and examined. little did he know that he was getting shots and a blood draw after the event.
He made it through his first round of immunizations like a champ…even flirting a bit with the technician before his shots. His big thing is to give “high fives” and he loved meeting everyone at the hospital today.
Morgan also survived having blood drawn. He could not give enough for all of the tests that the doc ordered, so we will likely have to do it again when we go back in 2 weeks for a check up. The doc wanted to see him again because he has lost a small amount of weight over the last few days. We are now at 15.7 lbs.
more soon!

    Congrats Jeremy!

I’m glad to hear the dr’s visits went well, and little Morgan is on right on track…

Jen, you need to take good care of yourself! I wish I was closer to help out. If only you could just move to Austin… 🙂

I am so glad today is better than yesterday! You are doing a wonderful job and I know it will be smooth sailing soon. Morgan has the prettiest eyes! What a cutie.

    Hi Jen,

The process of adjusting to being a mommy takes a little time, but you will get through it. When Andrew was born, I cried every night for 3 weeks (I had no idea a joyful event could be so stressful). The lack of sleep was difficult, but it’s temporary. Just be patient with yourself.

    Call if you need anything.

I’ve only heard of that “tongue tied” thing once before in my entire life. A lady here at work, her son had the same thing!

Maybe I should follow Morgan’s doctor’s advice on the constipation issue. I seem to have the same problem lately! LOL TMI!

But I’m so glad you guys are home and getting settled. It’ll take a while for things to be “normal”, but one day you will realize “Wow, THIS is what normal is!” and you will LOVE it!!!!

Wow. Morgan is a little guy, huh. But that just means you can snuggled and cuddle him longer!

  6. Lee (Zoe's Mom)

our house is now referred to as The Plastic Palace. It happens, give up the fight now. ha ha…

leather, Jeremy will get over that one too…Zoe not only drools all over it, she has an affinity for running her nails down the back of it. it will never look the same. oh well. ;o)

    look for an email…
    xoxo
